Lucas Mahias to compete in final MotoE™ races of 2019

The French rider joins the Ajo MotoE Team in Valencia, replacing former WorldSSP rival Niki Tuuli

After pulling the curtains down on the 2019 FIM Supersport World Championship season with a dazzling win in Qatar, Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) will still have the chance to compete for two more race wins in 2019, as he joins the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup grid for the season closer in Valencia.

Mahias will join the Ajo MotoE Team at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana, replacing former WorldSSP race-winner Niki Tuuli, who injured his left wrist and femur at the last MotoE™ meeting in Misano.

This will be the 30-year-old’s fourth visit to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, having participated in the final Moto2™ rounds held there between 2013 and 2015.

Speaking ahead of this new challenge, Mahias said: “It's difficult to set a specific goal for this weekend, as I don't know the bike or the championship and it's hard to know what my potential will be. I will have had a maximum of 20 laps with an electric bike in practice, but that’s riding alone, so I can't compare myself to the other rivals who have more experience than me. But as a rider, when you start a race you want to win, so my goal is to be at the front. I like the Valencia circuit and I’ve raced there before. I think it could be good for MotoE™, as it’s not a very long track, similar to Sachsenring”.

The first race of this double-header in Valencia will start at 16:15 Local Time (GMT+1) on Saturday 16th November, with the final race of the season set for 10:05 Local Time on Sunday 17th.
